How deep learning and AI can revolutionize depression and anxiety

It's hard to imagine how AI could help in therapy.

How can AI help in reducing depression and anxiety?

We at SublimeAI have talked to various therapist, physiatrists, and counselors. One trend emerging in is remote therapy. Where the therapist is at a remote location and conducts therapy using video chat like skype, WhatsApp, or google hangouts. Many therapist insist that the session be video based because 90% of human communication is non verbal.

So how can deep learning improve the therapy experience?

Deep learning is able to recognize human emotions and if trained well it can identify subtle emotions. These emotions can then be monitored and catalogued. So a therapist can then review at what points in their conversation the emotions showed anger, at what point they showed sadness, and when did they show happiness. This can significantly enhance the therapist in identifying what the trigger points are and then focus on fixing those.

Deep learning can also be used to classify the speech based on tone and pitch. It's easy for humans to identify human emotions or state of mind by how slow or fast a person is speaking. How high their pitch is. The amount they are speaking. Now with deep learning we can classes speech into these categories hence doing the same as above which is cataloging the session based on human emotional clues.
